Architectural lighting design
Studio Illumine was founded in Shanghai in 2012. Our international team brings together experience across interior, architectural, theatre and retail design. This range of perspectives allows us to approach light with both creative sensitivity and technical precision.
In 2022, we established our Kuala Lumpur studio to support projects across Southeast Asia. We collaborate with interior designers, architects and developers to shape spaces with clarity, atmosphere and purpose.
Kuala Lumpur
Tropical settings, architectural character and everyday rituals shape the studio’s approach in Malaysia. The work balances soft ambience with technical precision, creating lighting experiences that resonate with high-end residences, hospitality spaces and exterior environments.
Shanghai
The Shanghai studio brings deep experience in high-end retail, workplace, dining, commercial, façade and exterior environments. The multidisciplinary team combines creative sensitivity with the technical precision needed for complex, brand-led projects across China and East Asia.
Our philosophy
We believe light should feel inseparable from the space it inhabits. It can reveal texture, create rhythm, guide movement and shape atmosphere, all while allowing the architecture to remain the focus.
Every scheme responds to its context, purpose and the way people will live, work or gather within it.
Our ethos
Our work begins with questions, not products. We study the architecture, understand the design intent and collaborate closely with architects, interior designers and project teams from the earliest stages.
Because we remain independent from manufacturers, every recommendation is made for the project itself.
Our team brings together architectural lighting designers and project specialists from different disciplines, locations and cultural backgrounds. This collective experience allows each project to be considered from several perspectives while maintaining one clear lighting vision.
